During your stay at Hopewell, there’s a good chance you’ll smell fresh bread wafting over the property. There’s nothing like homemade focaccia bread and making it couldn’t be easier!
- 1 tbsp yeast
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 fresh rosemary or other herbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp olive oil
-
Place all ingredients into a bread maker and set to the dough cycle.
-
If making by hand, mix the yeast, olive oil, sugar and warm water together in a bowl and leave for 10 minutes in a warm place to allow the yeast to activate and the mixture become frothy.
-
Add the flour, chopped onion and a handful of fresh rosemary and knead to form a dough.
-
Roll out dough in a circle and brush with extra olive oil. Allow to rise for 15 - 30 minutes then dimple with fingers and sprinkle with rock salt (optional - chopped olives/parmesan cheese)
-
Bake at 200C for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown
